NWDA Scholarships

NWDA will commit $1000 annually (subject to available funds) to scholarships for educational expenses such as clinic fees, seminar fees, and special lessons for NWDA members, in good standing, after one year of membership. In exchange for a scholarship, members must either volunteer for three hours at an NWDA show or event within the next 6 months or submit a written article of 300 words or less for the ACCENT member newsletter within 60 days of the educational event.

Additional Scholarship Details
  • Scholarships are not for trailering, accommodations, food, gas, or lessons with your regular instructor.
  • Applications should be submitted to the Scholarship Chair 30 days in advance of the event.
  • Payment is made in the form of reimbursement after applicant has either submitted an article for the ACCENT or has completed three hours of volunteer service at a NWDA event.
  • No more than two participants will be granted NWDA scholarships per clinic or event.
  • NWDA scholarships are not available for use at NWDA sponsored events.

Grant Guidelines and Requirements

  • Funds can cover: expenses related to clinics, schooling shows or recognized shows, or other special learning opportunities. 
  • Grant is open to Junior/Young Riders, Adult Amateurs, and Open Riders.
  • Applicants must be an NWDA member at time of application and time of awarding of funds.
  • NWDA will award two separate grants annually to up to two separate recipients in the amount of up to $500 each.
  • Reimbursement for expenses will occur after the event, once the newsletter article has been received. 
  • The event for which scholarship funds are to     be used must    occur within one year from    the time that the scholarship is awarded. 
  • NWDA Members are eligible for grant every two years
  • Grant winners must submit an article for the NWDA newsletter about their experience
  • To apply, complete the Bally Jax of Spades Scholarship form including essay questions. Find on the Forms page. 

Deadline to submit application is: April 1st
Scholarship Committee will review applications and notify winner(s) by: May 1st
